Why Speedbar™

Weight

Speedbar™ is a one-piece carbon construction. There are no clamps, spacers, bolts or wedges needed to get you into your ideal position. By getting rid of all these bits and bolts we save quite some weight compared to a standard setup.

Strength

Carbon composite is the go-to material for individually moulded parts. By aligning the fibres in the optimal direction we can create incredibly strong constructions. Speedbar™ totally eliminates the need for compromising clamps and spacers as found in standard aerobars.

Safety

Speedbar™ development was initially driven by safety concerns. A crash in pro-cycling (where a traditional clamps-and-spacers aerobar failed in a world tour event) led to the realization that a solution for stronger riders was needed and this sparked the development of Speedbar™. Speedbar™ has no spacers and no extra bolts and clamps. So these parts cannot fail as they simply aren’t there. More importantly, we have no clamping forces on our precious carbon. Carbon composite is an unbelievably strong material but unlike metal it doesn’t like to be pinched or clamped. So we have done away with all that. The one-piece carbon construction is completely tension-free and as strong as a bike frame (structural integrity/passive safety). Speedbar™ also offers superior handling in crosswinds and descents. You are no longer on top of the extensions, you are locked in and have total control over your bike (handling/active safety).

Comfort

When we talk about shaving off seconds, this is the game changer. Speedbar™ supports every bit of you and not just a few contact points. This makes the extreme aero position much more tolerable. Meaning you can maintain that position for longer.

Support

From your elbow up to your fingers, you are locked into and one with Speedbar™. This added support offers superior control and handling, most noticeable in crosswinds and on extreme downhill sections.

Order process

Speedbar™ is not an off-the-shelf product. If you decide to order a Speedbar™ you will start a three-week process of creating your own personal aerobars.
We offer two manufacturing options, both in UCI-compliant and triathlon version.

1. Custom-made.
Using a universal mould that will support your upper arms over their entire length. We have moulds in several sizes and varieties and to be able to select the best mould for you we will need some close-up pictures of how you grip your bars, plus accurate stack- and reach measurements of your current setup. Your Speedbar™ will then be custom-made to fit your cycling posture and custom-made to fit your basebar.

2. Tailor-made.
We make a 3D plaster cast of your lower arms and elbows. This either requires you to visit our premises in The Netherlands or we’ll fly out and visit you on location. The cast can be used for additional bars so this is a one-time investment. Your Speedbar™ will be tailor made to exactly fit your arms, to fit your cycling posture and to fit your base bar.

To get started on your Speedbar™ we will need specific measurements and close-up pictures of your current aerobar setup. Please get in touch with us and we will help you through the design stage.

Speedbar™ can be equipped with seamlessly integrated computer- and bottlecage mounts. Included in the delivery are mounting hardware and padding.

We ask you for a one-third deposit to allow us to submit your order and allocate your production timeslot.
